Fire, EMS Grants Allocated to Columbia County, Leadbeter Says

February 20, 2026

HARRISBURG –Rep. Robert Leadbeter (R-Columbia) announced more than $256,000 in grant funding will support fire companies and emergency medical services in the 109th District.

“Fire and EMS personnel make incredible sacrifices to serve others, placing the safety and well-being of our communities above their own every single day,” said Leadbeter. “These brave men and women exemplify Columbia County’s conservative values every day, and I am grateful for their service.”

Established by the Legislature, the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program is administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner. The grant money comes from state gaming proceeds as required under state law. It was first initiated in 2000 and is open to volunteer and career fire companies, emergency medical services and rescue squads in Pennsylvania. Grant awards can be used for construction or repair of facilities, purchase or repair of equipment, debt reduction, recruitment, retention, public education about fire safety, and training. The funding amounts are contingent on the recipients filing their grant agreements with the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.
